# Quotation maker: the offer first, the invoice later.

> Free quotation maker for a Dutch company: fill in the form, see the sheet, download the quotation PDF. Quotation number, valid until, VAT shown. No account. Offerte in English.

A free quotation maker for a company in the Netherlands. Fill in the form, see the sheet, download the PDF — no account. The sheet opens as a sample quotation; overwrite it with your own lines. It is the same sheet as your invoice, with QUOTATION above it and a valid-until date. In Dutch this document is called an offerte. Ready to bill? [Create a free invoice](/en/free-invoice/).

These two do not appear on the PDF. They belong to addressing an e-invoice, and that happens in the Invoice hub — that needs an administration. They are here so you already have them to hand.

What belongs on it

## A sample quotation, not an empty quotation template.

There is no legal list for a quotation like there is for an invoice in the Netherlands. What makes it useful is that it leaves no room for misunderstanding afterwards: what you deliver, what it costs, with or without VAT, and until when the offer stands.

- A quotation is not an invoice yet

QUOTATION sits above the sheet, and there is no request for payment under it. Only when you have delivered do you turn it into an invoice.
- Valid until

Set a term. Without one, someone can come back after six months and still hold you to your old price.
- Show the VAT

Especially for a private customer: they do not get the VAT back and count on the amount that is on the sheet.
- The same sheet as your invoice

Your logo is on it and the layout equals your invoice, so your offer and your bill look like one whole.

Questions

## What people ask about a quotation in the Netherlands.

What is the difference between a quotation and an invoice?

A quotation is an offer: you say what you will do and what it costs. Nothing has to be paid yet. An invoice is the request for payment for what you have delivered. On this page QUOTATION sits above the sheet and the fields are called quotation number, quotation date and valid until.

What is an "offerte"?

Offerte is the Dutch word for a quotation or quote. A Dutch customer who asks for an offerte wants a written offer with the price, the scope and how long the offer stands. This quotation maker produces exactly that, in English or in Dutch.

Does VAT belong on a quotation?

It is wise to show whether your amounts are with or without VAT, especially for a private customer who cannot reclaim the VAT. Choose the VAT treatment that will also appear on the invoice later, so your offer matches what you send afterwards. Dutch VAT (btw) is 21% for most services and 9% for a reduced group.

How long is a quotation valid?

You decide; the field "valid until" is on the sheet. Two to four weeks is common. Without a term a customer can come back months later and still claim the old price.

Is this a free quotation template?

It is better than a template: a working sheet that does the sums and writes the PDF. Fill in the form, see the quotation at once and download it. No account, no email address. The PDF is built in your own browser.

Can I turn the quotation into an invoice later?

Yes. Open the free invoice tool, fill in the same lines and the same customer, and the sheet becomes an invoice with a consecutive invoice number. In the Invoice hub in the Winstwaker portal that step is one click, and the invoice is booked at the same time.
